要树立一个品牌,除了产品本身的价值外,宣传很重要,所以很多公司或组织都会邀请一些知名人士作代言.名人广告虽然需要明星参加，但广告 中的真正主角应该是品牌或产品，明星只是道具。所以企业在请明星代言广告时，一定要摆正品牌与明星的主次关系，避免喧宾夺主，本末倒 置，将名人广告做成明星个人秀，再大牌的明星也必须服务于品牌。 我们看一段《中国日报》的报道：Phelps, who is returning to Beijing this week for the first time since winning a record eight gold medals in August, has been signed to be the brand spokesman for Mazda in China.在今年8月的北京奥运会上破纪录地独揽八金后，菲尔普斯本周首次回到北京，他已经签约成为马自达汽车在 中国的品牌代言人。上面报道中的brand spokesman(spokesperson) 就是指“品牌代言人”。除了brand spokesman外，我们还可以用endorse 来表示“代言”。比如上面的报道还可以表述为Phelps returns to China to endorse Mazda。买东西时，你是不是也喜欢买name brand（名 牌产品）呢？但要小心了，标价很高的也有可能是imitation brand（冒牌货），你可要仔细看清楚brand mark（商标），还要记住买brand new product（新产品）前一定要仔细考察。

My battery commander and I were interviewing candidates for a position as reconnaissance sergeant in our artillery unit. The selected soldier needed to have keen eyesight, plus the ability to react quickly. During one interview, the commander pointed to a hill about a mile away and asked a young sergeant, "Can you see that hill over there?" "Yes, sir." he replied. "Can you see the radio antenna on that hill?" Again, the soldier said that he could. "Well, then," the commander went on, "Can you see that bird sitting on the antenna?" The sergeant leaned forward and squinted. "No, sir," he said, "but I can hear it is singing." He got the job.
